Regional EMS & Critical Care is proud to announce the availability of Medical Car Service to their Pennsylvania coverage areas.
Medical Car service is a cost-efficient way for patients to be transported to and from some types of appointments without the use of wheelchairs or other specialized medical equipment and vehicles.
“Some examples of the use of this service is, let’s say you have a resident who is able-bodied and fairly healthy… and they’re just going to have some routine blood work done or they are going to the eye doctor.” – Danielle Smith, Operations Manager, Regional EMS
In order for a resident in a nursing facility to utilize this service, the following must apply:
- The patient must be physically able to sit comfortably in a regular vehicle or passenger van for the duration of their trip.
- The patient must be healthy enough to complete the trip without being accompanied by any medical equipment.
- The patient must be traveling to and from an appointment which does not require the patient to be in a wheel chair or accompanied by any medical equipment.
Car service is very cost effective, less resource-intensive way to get your residents to and from appointments. That’s why Regional EMS is proud to offer this service as part of a continued commitment to our skilled nursing clients.
Ask about this service next time you schedule transportation.
“Many transportation providers are reluctant to provide this type of service because, since it’s cheaper – it can create a revenue loss for the provider – but with the growing trend of Medicare Overbilling cases we felt this was the right thing to do in order to protect our clients.” – Matthew Feller, PHRN, President – Regional EMS
